The Council of Representatives held on 22/7/2013 the ninth session of the first legislative term for the fourth year under chairmanship of Osama Al-Nujaifi, the Speaker of Council of Representatives. The session included the following:

- Attendance 243 MPs.

- Mr. Al-Nujaifi announced on holding a special session on next Thursday to discuss the security situation in Baghdad and Diyala in the presence of senior officials in the two provinces.

- The Council voted on the draft law to amend the law of seizing of the smuggled and prohibited trading money in the local markets No.(18) of 2008, submitted by the committees of finance and legal.

- Voting on the draft law of regulating the lease of agricultural lands and giving ownership of the right to dispose to the agricultural and veterinary graduates submitted by the committees of agriculture and legal.

- The Presidency postponed voting on the draft law of official language submitted by the committees of legal, culture and media, finance, education, and high education until finishing of checking.

- Voting on the draft law of the second amendment to the law of customs tariff No.(22) of 2010, submitted by the committees of finance, economy and investment.

- The Council voted on preventing MP Mahmoud El Hassan from participating in the works of the Council of Representatives for violating the bylaws until presenting a written apology.

- The Presidency decided to postpone voting on nomination of the members of the discriminatory judges responsible for hearing the appeals on the decisions of the Accountability and Justice Commission submitted by the legal committee to another session.

- The Council voted to take over Mr. Falah Hassan Shanshal the position of chairman of the Accountability and Justice Commission and Mr. Bakhtiar Omar Mohiuddin as his deputy.

- Voting on a proposal to honor the youth and military teams for football submitted by the committee of youth and sports by allocating 3 million dinars for each player and the training and technical staff of the two teams.

- The Council voted on a proposal to honor the top ten students for the academic year 2012-2013, submitted by the committee of education. Where MP Adel Alsharshab, the chairman of the committee of education, considered that honoring of the outstanding students in the amount of 2 million dinars represents a an important message to the outstanding students and their parents.

- The first reading of the proposed law to amend the law of the Council of Representatives elections No.(16) of 2005, submitted by the legal committee.

- The first reading of the proposed law to cancel the resolutions of the disbanded Revolution Command Council No.(1021) of 1983, No.(197) of 1994, No.(145) of 2001, submitted by the legal committee.

- The second reading of the draft law of first amendment to the law of agricultural lending fund for peasants and small farmers No.(28) for the year 2009, submitted by the committees of agriculture and finance.

- The Council voted on the budget of the Council of Representatives 2014.

- The second reading of the draft law to amend the law of sanctions No.(111) of 1969, submitted by the legal committee.

 

It was decided to adjourn the session until Wednesday 24/7/2013.
