The minutes
On 7/9/2013, the Council of Representatives (CoR) held its 18thsession of the 1st legislative term of the 4th period chaired by the Speaker H.E. Osama al-Nujaifi:
- 224MPs attended the session
- MP Hasan al-Seneed, the Chair of the Committee on Security and Defense, disapproved the terrorist attack in the area of Lateefiya which left a number of casualties, calling for the appropriation of IQD 250 million for the families of the victims in various cities;
- The CoR voted to appropriate IQD 250 million of the CoR budget to help the families affected by the terrorist bombings;
- The session included the review of the achievements of the CoR and its standing parliamentary committees in the second electoral cycle;
- MP Muhammad al-Khalidi, the CoR rapporteur, presented a summary on the achievements of the CoR. He confirmed enacting 195 legislations, finishing second readings of 39 legislations and first readings of 55 legislations. The CoR also held 55 hosting sessions among which 21 were attended by the hosts, and there were 2 interrogative sessions, 3 with no hosts attending and 1 delayed to a suitable appointment in the near future;
- The chiefs of the following Committees presented a review of the achievements of their Committees for the current parliamentary cycle:Endowments and Religious Affairs, Martyrs and Political Prisoners, Accountability and Justice,Foreign Affairs, Services and Reconstruction, Tourism and Archaeology, Agriculture, Water and Marches, Sports and Youth, Human Rights, Culture and Media, Regions and Provinces not Organized into a Region, Integrity, Financial Affairs, Health and Environment, Legal Affairs, Education, MPs’ Affairs, Deportees, and Civil Society Organizations;
