 On 24/07/2014 House of deputies held the third session of the first legislative term for the first year under the chairmanship of Mr. Saleem al-Jubouri, head of the House of deputies ,the session included:
election of the President of the Republic, the first round took place and the results were:
175 votes for Mr. Fuad Masum
37 Votes for Ms. Hanan fatlawi
10 votes for Mr. Faiq-Sheikh
3 votes for Mr. Hussein Musawi
2 votes for Syed Hamid Hammadi
And for not getting the absolute majority ,re-voting had to be done for only two candidates who got greater number of votes, and after the withdrawal of Ms. Hanan al-Fatlawi and Mr.Faiq al-Sheikh re-voting took place for the candidates Fuad Masum, and Mr. Hussein Musawi, and the results of the second round were as follows:
269 total number of votes
228 Number of valid votes
41 the number of invalid votes
211 votes for Mr. Fuad Masum
17 votes for Mr. Hussein Musawi
Thus, the president of the Council declared Mr. Fuad Masum, president of the Republic of Iraq
And then the meeting was adjourned to 08/05/2014
