 On (14/10/2023), the House of Representatives held its twenty-first session of the second legislative term of the second legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle, headed by Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in the presence of (205) representatives, and the session included:

 

-Reciting Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs of the Arabs’ cause, Muslims and occupied Palestine.

-The heads of the parliamentary blocs expressed their firm positions towards the Palestinian cause, expressed their support and solidarity with the Palestinian people, and rejected the brutal crimes committed by the usurping Zionist entity of the massacres of genocide against the Palestinian people in steadfast Gaza and the unjust siege it imposes on its inhabitants.

-Members of the House of Representatives announced their condemnation of the brutal practices and crimes committed by the Zionist occupation forces against the Palestinian people, renewing the call for the Arab League to hold an emergency session to condemn the aggression on Gaza and open passages for the delivery of humanitarian, medical and food aid to the Gaza Strip, in addition to calling on the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union to adopt a unified and serious position to call on the international community to lift the injustice against the Palestinian people and not to use the war machine in their extermination, expressing their categorical rejection of the Zionist entity’s policy of forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, stressing the Iraqi government to open outlets to receive popular donations from various actors to maximize aid to support the oppressed Palestinian people.

 

-Ladies and Gentlemen of Representatives affirmed the permanent and firm commitment to the right of the Palestinian people to end the occupation and establish their Palestinian state with Al-Quds as its capital, noting that the Palestinian people are subjected to the most heinous types of murder and violations that contradict the principles of human rights by the Zionist entity, stressing the right of the Palestinian people to continue their resistance until they obtain their legitimate rights, especially after they achieved a great victory in the brave Al-Aqsa flood operation that broke the prestige of alleged Zionism.

 

-The Speaker of the House read out a statement issued by the Presidency of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union on security developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, in which he reiterated the right of the Palestinian people to defend themselves in light of the expansion of the circle of brutal and inhumane Israeli practices against the Palestinian brothers, and the repeated continuous Israeli attacks on civilian men, women and children, as well as deliberate and repeated violations of the sanctity of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and other Islamic and Christian religious sanctities throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, calling for The international community and all international inter-parliamentary organizations and unions exert pressure on the occupying Israeli entity to cease its criminal and racist practices against the Palestinian people.

 

-The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union called for an immediate cessation of escalation between the two sides, protection for civilians, restraint, and a return to a clear political-diplomatic track based on the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative and resolutions of international legitimacy to spare the entire region further repercussions and serious consequences for all.

 

-The statement of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union expressed its firm position towards the justice of the Palestinian cause and the legal rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, which will not return to their legitimate owners except through the implementation of the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

-The interventions of the ladies and gentlemen of the representatives focused on calling on the government to open an account to collect donations to support the Palestinian people and to initiate rapid action on the international community to stop the displacement and massacres against the Palestinians, and the League of Arab States must activate the charter of the mosque considering any attack on a member as an attack on Arab countries, and activate the Arab Joint Defense Treaty, in addition to calling on the United Nations to prevent the killing and deportation of the Palestinian people and directing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to move on the Security Council to support the Palestinian people, noting that peace in the eastern region The Middle East will only be achieved by ending the Israeli occupation.

 -Dr. Shakhwan Abdullah pointed out that the House of Representatives is about to vote on the recommendations for discussing the brutal bombardment of the Gaza Strip in tomorrow’s session.

 

Then, it was decided to adjourn the session until tomorrow, Sunday.
