Session Details

 On (21/2/2023), the House of Representatives held its eighth session of the first legislative term of the second legislative year of the fifth electoral cycle under the chairmanship of Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in the presence of (172) representatives, and the session included:

 

-Representative Shaalan Al-Karim denounced the security breach that occurred in Al-Khalis district in Diyala Governorate and the accompanying violation of human rights and threat to the safety of citizens, which claimed the lives of several citizens, calling on the Speaker of the House, the commanders of the security forces and the State Administration Alliance to put an end to the violations that occur in the province and to review the security positions and intelligence services to stop the movements of armed gangs and reduce uncontrolled weapons

 

-The Speaker of the House directed the Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee to conduct an investigation into the security violations that occurred in Diyala Governorate and the Tarmiya region in order to do justice to the martyrs and prevent security incidents, stressing the importance of the rule of law for the state and maintaining security and stability in all regions of Iraq.

-The House recite Surat Al-Fatihah in mercy on the souls of the martyrs’ victims of the incident in Al-Khalis district.

-First reading of the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the statute of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.

-First reading of the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the 1997 Protocol to amend the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships of 1973 as amended by the 1978 Protocol related to it and submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.

-Postponing the first reading of the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the Convention on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Water birds, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee at the request of the Committee.

-Second reading of the draft law on the ratification of the Agreement on Economic, Commercial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of Hungary, submitted by the Foreign Relations Committee.

 

-The second reading of the draft law on the accession of the Republic of Iraq to the Convention on Nuclear Safety submitted by the Committee on Relations.

 

Then it was decided to adjourn the session to next Thursday
