Session Report
The Council of Representatives held on (7/3/2026) its eleventh session of the first legislative term of the first legislative year of the sixth electoral cycle, chaired by Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi. The session included:
_ The Council condemned all attacks targeting Iraqi sovereignty and the positions of the security and military forces, reiterating its categorical rejection of the use of Iraqi territory or airspace in any hostile acts directed against neighboring countries, and affirming that no parties will be allowed to seek to drag Iraq into the ongoing regional conflicts.
_ The Council also affirmed its full support for the state institutions, particularly the military and security forces, in taking the measures necessary to protect the borders, safeguard national sovereignty, and preserve the country's interests and institutions, in addition to securing the diplomatic missions operating in Iraq. At the same time, the Council called on the UN Security Council and all international and regional organizations to take the necessary steps to stop the attacks and to respect international laws, treaties and charters.
