Session Report
The Council of Representatives held on (25/7/2026) its sixth session of the second legislative term of the first legislative year of the sixth electoral cycle, chaired by First Deputy Speaker Adnan Faihan. The session included:
- The Council postponed the item of considering the appeals submitted regarding the validity of the membership of some MPs, since the item requires the attendance of two-thirds of the Council's members during the session.
- First reading of the draft Law Ratifying the Final Accounts of Fiscal Year 2012, submitted by the Finance Committee.
- First reading of the draft Law Ratifying the Final Accounts of Fiscal Year 2013, submitted by the Finance Committee.
- First reading of the draft Law Ratifying the Final Accounts of Fiscal Year 2014, submitted by the Finance Committee.
- First reading of the draft Law Ratifying the Final Accounts of Fiscal Year 2015, submitted by the Finance Committee.

- First reading of the proposed First Amendment Law to the Labor Law No. (37) of 2015, submitted by the Committee of Labor, Civil Society Organizations, Federal Service Council, Youth and Sports and the Legal Affairs Committee.
- The Council's members stressed the importance of examining the basic services file and resolving the water and electricity crisis, the need to secure the necessary financial allocations, attending to the Basra water project and ending the suffering of Basra and the other governorates by providing water fit for human use, in addition to reviewing collection amounts and the water service bill, completing sewage projects, finding appropriate solutions to the unemployment problem, providing job opportunities, giving attention to the private sector and industrial cities to attract the workforce, along with the necessity of preserving public funds to ensure the elimination of widespread corruption, and automating the systems in state institutions.
- The interventions touched on demanding the exemption of fees and taxes imposed on solar panel projects, and coordinating with banks to operate an easy installment system to facilitate obtaining them and making them available to citizens, along with the importance of collecting the debts and taxes owed by foreign companies.
- The members' interventions included the importance of reviewing and reconsidering the assignment of positions to dual nationals in the security agencies, taking into consideration the issue of examiners at the Ministry of Interior, in addition to the need to give priority to appointing martyrs' families in the private sector in consideration of their living conditions, and stressing the activation of the school feeding program and following up on food distribution in accordance with the Ministry of Health's standards.
- The discussions focused on the file of holders of higher degrees, top graduates and graduates of medical and health professions by including them in the third appointment batch under their respective laws, to guarantee their entitlement to job grades on par with their peers from previous batches.
